Siguiendo con la entrada anterior sobre los residentes de SL encontré esta imagen que ilustra la diversidad idiomática existente en Second Life. Me parece que ciertamente el mundo virtual es tan diverso como el “¿real?”

unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish, but thanks a lot for showing my advertising graphics. For over a year now I run “Babel Translations and Text Creation”, the by now oldest and premiere translation agency in SL.
This graphic shown is a compilation of Linden Lab statistics and the jobs requested foremost from my company.

¿Tan diverso como el real? Pues creo que no. Primero hay que considerar el acceso a la tecnología: quien la tiene, entra (y ya se sabe que el que no, fuera se queda). Luego, aún teniéndolo, no entra. Mira a China, por ejemplo: la mitad del mundo es chino y habla chino, y no están en esa tablita. Etc., etc., etc. ¿Se acuerda alguien de los indios? ¿Y qué tal de los árabes? Apuesto cualquier cosa que hay por ahí más de estos tres (chinos, indios y chinos) que de todos los que aparecen en ese !00%.
